Greetings and blessings!!
Imagine all the snow falling as it did at the beginning of February. Church was canceled because of how much snow was on the ground, schools were closed for over a week, even the government couldn’t go to work!! Now, picture the bitter cold that was felt following the snow. Could you imagine having church in the streets because we did not have a building??
Even though there is NO snow in the Dominican Republic, the changing weather conditions of hurricans or earthquakes have not changed the fact that our friends in the Dominican Republic still do not have a place to worship. They are still in the streets playing-rain or shine. They still have to deal with blocking the roads so cars don’t drive up in the middle of their church service. And, they still have to deal with the fact that they do not have a safe place to worship inside. This, however, does not change how they worship or what they are thankful for!
The folks at Calvary have become very close to Pastor Nieves and Pastor Lenardo Leon in the Dominican Republic and are sending another team to help work on the sanctuary part of the church. I am sure that many of you have seen pictures of some of the work that has already been done, and major progress has been made while we have been away!! With Jessica King and Ed Koch leading the next team to the Dominican Republic, we know that we have the support of the congregation and the love of those who would like to go on this trip!!
